I have spent the last 10 years watching doctors fail to help my twin sister with her chronic illness. She has postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, which is a syndrome of the autonomic nervous system where the body cannot pump blood properly causing nausea, dizziness, fatigue, and a myriad of other symptoms. There is usually an underlying cause with this syndrome and my sister still hasn’t gotten a concrete diagnosis for what that would be. She has gone through a plethora of different tests and tried many different medicines, however there are still so many questions about what is causing her symptoms. People often think they can just go to a doctor and get answers, however for a lot of people that is not the case. Her illness has greatly impacted her life and transformed our personal relationship as twins since she had to switch to online school. These re-photographed compositions of her medical notes, portraits, medicine, and hospital bracelets represent her medical journey and the questions that still remain surrounding her illness.
